How To Brew Your Own Beer

There's no bottle of brew that tastes nearly as good as the one you have made yourself. So what are you waiting for? Here is how to brew your own lager. There's some apparatus you're going to want. You should be able to choose it all up for less than $200, and it is not difficult to find. Any local brewing supply store or online brewing site will have everything you want which includes:. The best way, particularly for noobs, is to pick up a lager kit. It will contain all of the required ingredients, which include yeast and hopped malt concentrate.

You also have to buy fermentables, which are what add the different tastes to your brew. Naturally you can purchase your ingredients separately, but the kit is a guaranteed way to get everything you want. You'll need to sanitize all your plant. In reality, it is the most vital thing you will do.

Then you must clean all your kit by employing either the iodine solution or chlorine solution that came with your brewing kit.

Now that everything is sterilised, you are prepared to start. Put 2 quarts of water in your brew pot ; then heat to around 180F or till it steams ; then remove it from the heat.

Follow the instructions given your kit.

Stir till everything is melted ; then put the lid on and leave it sit for twenty mins on low heat. Add your mix, which is known as the wort, to the fermenter which should be full of four gallons of water. When the wort is cool to touch you are able to add your yeast. The method starts instantly and continues for five days. In this period it is important to keep the temperature constant, around 65F, and to keep your wort in a dark place. You will be able to inform when your wort is fermenting because you'll see small air bubbles rising to the top. When five day arrives you must start checking your lager every day. When there are no more air bubbles your lager is prepared to bottle. If you do not wait for the fermenting to finish you'll wreck your lager's taste. Before you bottle you have to prepare what's called the first solution. In your pan add two cups of water and cup dextrose. Bring to boiling point over gentle heat, and then let it cool for 30 mins.

Attach the hose to the spigot on your fermenter and put the other end of the hose in your bottling bucket. Open the spigot and transfer your lager over to the bottling bucket. When done, detach and clean the hose and throw the fermenter.

Fill each bottle leaving 1" of air at the top. Wait, it isn't quite time to drink it yet. You want to put your bottled lager in a cool dark place for the second fermentation process. Don't put it in the refrigerator as that is too cold.
